Gangdong-gu(Lee Haesik, the head of the Gangdong-gu office) has run psychological support program "exercise counselling with families at forest" which is designed for the family with handicapped child living in Gangdong-gu. This program was created in order to help the family with handicapped child relieve excessive stress and strengthen emotional fellowship by way of learning positive interaction method. There were 30 families with 120 members participating in the program last year and participants' response was very positive, getting 5 points out of 5 in satisfaction research. Now this program is ongoing at Myungil neighborhood park at 10:00 am(for 90 minutes) on April 14th, 21th and 28th(total 3 times). Exercise counselling program is an activity that supports smooth sensomotor and psychological development. The whole family can relieve the tensions of everyday life and regain psychological stability through enjoying various activities such as swing by people, tightrope walking, family seesaw and water magic show in nature. It also helps the members in the family understand each other because handicapped children suffering from concentration and impulse control can control their act and actively express their world through creative experiences. An official said that Gangdong-gu office is going to support many programs in making the community that embraces the burdens of the family with handicapped people. You can apply for the above program at Gangdong-gu Children's Center homepage(www.gdkids.or.kr) without tuition. The same program will be played on October during the second half of the year.
