Subject Gangdong-gu operates a board festival for elementary and middle school students

Gangdong-gu (Lee Hae-sik, chief of district office) operates a board festival for elementary and middle school students every Saturday starting from April 7 to support healthy inter-member communication and entertainment culture.
The program is based on the policy of a proposal made by an elementary school student in June 2017. He said that he would like to share more time with friends and family through sitting beside each other and playing board games since the majority of the students who are familiar with smartphones and the Internet are lacking face-to-face communication.
After thorough examination by relevant departments and the youth council in Gangdong District, the proposal was finally selected as a project for youth participation and was conducted starting from April,2018.
The public Wontergol Gyeongrodang located in Myeongnam 2-dong readily opened the second floor space for the teenagers, and was operated by a board game company, Butthole attic.
The program is available from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. every Saturday. The program is held by two parts. The first half, April 7 to June 30, and the second half which is from September 8 to November 24.
Every month, a youth board gathering (three times) and a family board game party (one time) will be held, and a village board game festival will be held every six months.
Participants can apply on a first-come first-served basis at the Naver Band Youth Board Festival (band.us/@gangdongi) every Monday, 9 A.M. through Tuesday, 6 P.M.
Lee Hae-sik, governor of Gangdong District Office said that " It is a meaningful program which melt the voices of children and teenagers” and that “Although it is just a starting point, I will actively support this program in order to further encourage community communication.”
