Gang dong-gu, Seoul, announced that a non-smoking clinic is running all year round for smokers who hope for quitting smoking on the 28th. Enrolling in a smoking cessation clinic, people will be able to grasp their status quo by measuring carbon monoxide levels, examining nicotine dependence, and establishing a personalized quit-smoking plan in consultation with counseling specialists. In addition to managing periodical counseling for more than six months, people can receive supplementary goods for refraining from smoking such as nicotine supplements, to ease withdrawal symptoms. Also, a small gift will be provided for the one who have successfully quit smoking for six months. Over the past year, 3285 smokers in this region registered with the quit-smoking clinic, and 33.9% of the registrants succeeded in quitting smoking for more than six months. This year's non-smoking clinic will be operated as 'Night Clinic', 'Saturday Clinic', 'Visit Clinic' and 'Saturday Youth Clinic' for youth so that residents who want to quit smoking can conveniently access to it. In particular, the 'Night Clinic' for employees who have difficulty in visiting health center on the daytime of weekdays is scheduled to be held by 8:00 pm on weekdays and the 'Saturday Clinic' will be operated from the 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the second and fourth Saturdays. The 'Saturday Youth Clinic' targeting smoking youth will be planned to improve the health of the youth through education such as counseling and control of cravings for smoking.
