Subject Gangdong-gu pushes full-scale promotion of the elderly job of 6 billion won

Gangdong-gu(Mayor Lee Haesik) spends a total of 6,020 million won to launch a ‘2018 Senior Work Project’. This project provides high-quality jobs and lively aging to 2,281 seniors in 36 projects. This project can also make the seniors feel a social connection.
The ‘Senior Work Project’ is divided into public interest type, market type, and manpower dispatch type according to the nature of business. The public interest type projects include 28 businesses including Nonocare(voluntary service and lunch delivery), environmental maintenance(street cleaning, wall removal), urban gardening, public facilities and welfare facilities support and a total of 1,871 elders participate in these projects.
In the market-type business, 310 seniors participate in seven projects including senior barista, senior telegram delivery, senior oral product management, senior shoe product management, elementary school meal aid, and nursery child care assistant.
The manpower-dispatching business is to connect and support the employment of seniors by finding a company that wants to hire a senior, and plans to link 100 elderly people to companies this year.
On March 21st, Gangdong-gu announced the launch of ‘2018 Senior Work Project’ and announced the full-scale promotion of the project. More than 700 people attended the opening ceremony, including seniors and project managers.
Elders have vowed to carry out sincere business through oath, and have received literacy education such as safety education and laughter therapy for the creation of joyful and safe old work culture.
An official of Gangdong-gu said, “I will continue to excavate and provide a variety of elderly and suitable jobs so that older people can live a more lively life.”
