Gangdong-gu (Lee Hae-sik) announced that it will implement a '2018 Senior Work Project,' which will provide 6281 jobs for 2281 seniors by investing 6020 million won. The city held a grand opening ceremony for the 2018 job for the elderly on March 21. More than 700 people including senior citizens participating in job-related projects and business executives were present. The elderly pledged to carry out sincere business through oath and received lecture education like safety education and laughter treatment. Jobs for senior citizens are classified into public interest type, market type, and workforce dispatching type depending on the nature of business. The public interest type projects include 28 businesses such as no-no care (voluntary service and lunch delivery for elders who lives alone), environmental maintenance (street cleaning and wall removal), urban gardening, public facilities and welfare facilities support. More than 1800 seniors participate in those businesses. The market type business consists of seven projects including senior barista, senior telegram delivery, senior oral product management, elementary school meal assistance, and nursery child care assistant. 310 people participate. The workforce dispatching business is a business linking employment with companies that seek employment for the elderly. More than 100 people are going to join the company this year. An official from the city said, “We will continue to find and offer a variety of elderly and suitable jobs so that seniors can live a lively life.” Gangdong-gu will became the best city that seniors can live happily without finances problems through '2018 Senior Work Project.' |
