Subject Gangdong-gu makes policies from the viewpoint of children.

Gangdong-gu plans to recruit third-generation children's groups for children under the age of 18. The district has been running the Children's Clubs Committee since 2016 to ensure that children can have an opportunity to participate in public policy and to reflect their rights.

The 'Dream Smile', a children's autonomy center opened in April of last year, is a realization of the opinions of the Children and Youth Forum in 2016. It remodeled the municipal district and made it available to children and adolescents since they returned home. When designing the space, it did not forget to carefully reflect the opinions of the children who actually use it.

The third period begins with an orientation on Saturday, April 7th. Promoting children's rights, monitoring relevant policies, participating in in-depth child impact assessment, and joint debate represent the opinions of young people and create a better environment for children.

After reviewing the documents, it will be composed of about 20 people. The period of activity will be until next March. Anyone from age 9 to 18 years of age who lives in Gangdong-gu or attends a school in the city can apply. In order to guarantee the participation rights of various classes, 20% of the total recruiters will be selected in minority children such as multicultural families, disabilities, and non-students.

"Under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, one of the four most important rights for children in Korea is the right to participate. We are encouraging the participation of children and adolescents, and I will actively support them so that they can reflect their voices in the policy. " said Kang Dong gu commissioner.
