Subject Attempts to seek the employment of the physically challenged people

The Gangdong District Office and Hosanna College signed a business agreement in March 20th to support the employment of the challengedd in connection with the pet industry.

This pact aims to develop abandoned dogs into pets and create jobs for the disabled in Gangdong Ribbon Center.

Hosanna College is the first school in Korea to offer services to the challenged since 2006, and created department of pet care last year. In the future, the company plans to expand its business to pet snack manufacture, animal companion farms, medical care facilities, and to establish animal healing centers in June.

'Healing with Animals' is an activity that can prevent physical, emotional problems and recover through the communication between humans and animals.

" We hope that Hosanna College and Gangdong District Office could take a step closer to improving animal welfare, " said Lee Hae-sik, governor of Gangdong District Office.

Lee Dong-gui, the college's chief executive, said : ”It is great that Gangdong District office has created new jobs for 200 thousand physically challenged people and pet dogs. I’m happy that the challenged, who used to be the receivers of assistance, are now providers who aid solitary senior citizens.”

On the sidelines of the agreement, 10 Hosanna College students will train the abandoned dogs of the Gangdong Ribbon Center into pets. Students who complete animal healing activities will also work on healing activities for solitary senior citizens, severely disabled people, and local children with the pets.

On the other hand, the Gangdong District Office has continuously tried to resolve conflicts between people and animals and to seek coexistence. Starting with opening Lunch Center for homeless cats in district offices in 2013, it is the first local municipal government to set up resting place for homeless cats on their rooftop. Last November, it opened Gangdong Ribbon Center, the country's first cafe-style center for abandoned animals.
