An hour is enough! Just an hour for our Earth
Turn the lights off for the Earth

Gangdong District Office (director Lee Hae-sik) announced that it will operate Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting this Saturday.

Earth Hour is a global event that started in 2007 in Sydney to alert the world to the severity of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Since then, this event has become popular all around the world, having more and more nations and corporations participating. Every participant is enduring the inconvenience for the same goal: saving our planet.

The global lighting off event will be held in three stages to minimize inconvenience in living conditions. Public institutions are required to participate, also, large buildings and apartments over 500 generations are encouraged to participate. In addition general stores and private households can voluntarily participate in this even to save our planet.

Public offices, including district offices, public health offices, community councils, and community centers, will turn off the lights inside and outside the building, including the police lights, for one hour. Large buildings can use interior lighting after they have turned off the signs and the lights. Private households will be able to turn off their lights and lights completely, and watch TV afterwards.

The city government will also hold the " World Wall-off Day, " a theme held at Iljisan Grass Plaza from 7:40 a.m. on May 24, and hold the Kangdong Greenway Walk Contest from 4 p.m.
