The population of companion animals reaches up to 10 million, but on the other hand, about 200 pet companions are driven into cold streets every day. According to the National Statistical Office, only 50% of the of abandoned animals are re-adopted or returned to their original owners. More than 43% of the abandoned dogs are dying in temporary shelters. Pets that are lost or abandoned will be euthanized if they cannot find their new owner within 15 days of entering the shelter. As the animal shelter is located in the outskirts of the city with low accessibility, many people who are interested in adopting an abandoned animal are not able to find it easily. In order to solve this problem at a community level, the city first opened a café-type adoption center "Reborn" in November last year. It looks like a cute little dog cafe, but the Reborn Center helps protect the abandoned dogs for a certain period of time and helps them find a new home. Unlike traditional animal shelters, it is a great feature that you can enjoy coffee in a comfortable space like a cafe, and you can play with your dog naturally. After the opening, Ribbon Center received 23 protected dogs with various stories, such as Salty Samnam, abandoned in the box, rescued Jindo Dog, and a mixed dog abandoned while moving. The residents who visited the center for the first time were amazed to see the children playing in the playground, saying, "Are they really abandoned dogs?" It was because we cannot feel the negative image of abandoned pets from the dogs who are cleaned and cared for in the center.
