Subject Fullfill your wish of becoming a barista at the school for the disabled at Kangdong-gu

On May 15th, Seoul Gangdong-gu (Lee Hae sik, the head of District office) indicated that participants, who wish to have the job opportunities as well as to experience college life, were invited at Gangdong-gu vocational school for the disabled until May 20th.

It has been 4 years since Gangdong-gu vocational school for the disabled started, and it offers university continuing education courses to the disabled, who suffer from entering the college and going out into the world, to have customized career skills development and self-reliance. 41 people have completed the courses from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, six students obtained second grade barista license and four students were hired in ‘Happy Plus’ café at the second building of Gandong district office.

The education will proceed at the Academy of Continuing Education of Dong Seoul University for 24 weeks (three times a week) from May 26th to December. It consists of coffee professional course, confectionery and bakery, and special lecture of practical service. Once the education has completed, students can apply to ‘Happy Plus’ café.

If interested, you can download and fill out the application form at Gangdong-gu website (http://www.gangdong.go.kr) and apply for the courses at social welfare department of Gandong district office. 12 people will be selected for the admission through document screening and an individual interview.

Lee Hae sik, the head of District office, said “operating vocational school for the disabled is precious to support the disabled to have sense of independence” and “I will continuously try to develop our society as a local community to cooperate with the disabled”.
