There's always a first! These days korean game shows with foreigners are huge success. Mainly due to the cultural encounters the foreigners have in korea. Mundane moments we pass by all the time being reborn through the eyes of these guys are quite interesting. Gangdong for the last summer and winter, has been running a special program for the first time among local liberated organizations. With more foreign students coming in, we prepared "Global Internship" for foreign students. Along the experience these students will have, a fresh global influence at our office was also expected. The second global internship this winter vacation was a huge interest among 122 students for 33 countries worldwide! 8 foreign friends among the 1 in 15 competition! Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Hungary, China.. the list goes on! Our Gu tried to maximize the effectiveness these foreing students had concerning their majors. So the interns worked for 4 weeks in varous places like GangPool Comic street, Amsa Library, Gangdong Reborn Center, local kid center. English conversation and game lessons for local kids, foreign policy implications for straydogs, and translation for the gangpool street wall drawings too! Furthermore, the first global intern friends and more enthusiastic youngs helped the second interns. Also there was a time for thorough understanding of Gangdong's major facilities like Amsa ruins, Gangdong Drone Village, CheongNyeon Maru etc. Hajung Fanishi from Kenya said, "The reality of the forieng students are that we have to go back after graduation.", and also "Thanks to the internship I got to experience the korean office and introduce Kenya to young friends." Some students felt like Gangdong was their second home. It was a very useful time for workers too, as mentioned. Furthermore, the 18 students from 15 countries worked as Gangdong's commercial delegates too. With Glocal Age coming through, we hope Gangdong goes beyond and out world wide but also nostalgic experience for the foreign students. Gangdong is planning to keep this going, with internship foreign students, working area, and local youngs. |
