Subject Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival was awarded Korea Festival Contents Prize

Gangdong-gu(the head officer Lee Haesik), Seoul, has announced on 28th that it has received “the Grand Prize of the 6th Korea Festival Contents, Program Sector” for the main festival, Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival.
The Grand Prize of Korea Festival, which will mark the 6th anniversary this year, is hosted by the Korea Festival Contents Association and is sponsored by the Korea Festival Content`s Grand Prix Content`s and the Korea Tourism Organization.
Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival was held since 1996 in order to promote Amsa-dong, Seoul, which was the biggest collective settlement site in the New Stone Age and this year is the 23th anniversary. This festival is the only one in Seoul whose theme is the New Stone Age and who has clear historicity and identity. Last year around four hundred thousand people visited there. The highlight of the festival is “Street Parade”, in which around 1500 residents in primitive dress march from Cheonil middleschool to Amsa-dong historic sites.
Furthermore, there are 80 programs of 6 fields, from ancient to modern times, for example the lighting ceremony of Sunsa wish lamp, ancient barbeque experience, Baweejul village Hosang-nolee, gawking contest and so on. They provide the visitors attractions and enjoyment.
Lee Haesik, the head officer of Gangdong-gu, said “We are prized because of the superiority of variety and originality of the festival without losing its identity.” and “We will continuously develop the Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival so that it can clarify the status of the national festival for the New Stone Age’s history and culture.”
