Subject Gangdong-Gu, a Test Operation of 'Our Village Total Service Team'

Gangdong-gu demonstrates 'Our Village Total Service Team', which provides customized services for each household to solve the problem caused by increase in double-income, single-person, and silver furniture.

The service group has been selected as ‘the 2017 Seoul Metropolitan Government's Up-stream and Cooperative Job Creation Project’ to promote the demand and supply of the increasingly diverse social services in the social economy way.

The service team consists of 11 local residents and provides services in four fields. The service will be offered free of charge in the first month and thereafter the differential rate plan will be applied for each service.

The service team provides 4 servies – (1) a 'social dining' service such as a kitchen for sharing food and making a meal together, (2) a 'caring for children' service such as Getting children to and from school and instead of Green Mother activity for dualearner families and single-person households, (3) a ‘companion/accompanying’ service to be companion or to acompany to the hospital for elderly people living alone, (4) a ‘simple house repair’ service that is not easy to take care of because of busy daily life - that are needed depending on the type of furniture or life style.

This service team will be operated tentatively for Seongnae 1,2,3-dong residents from February to June this year.

Gangdong-gu is also considering ways to form this service team into cooperative by analyzing the possibility of the service team and the demand and satisfaction of residents through the pilot operation of it.

Gangdong-gu said, "The service through the total service of our village is the service that the residents most need in the changing modern society. That the resident provide the services that directly help the people in the community, it helps the formation of the neighborhood bond and the village community."
