Subject Gangdong-gu the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year's special event

Gangdong-gu, Seoul(Lee Hae Sik, District Administrator) will hold a "January 1st Moon House Burning Hanmadang" event on the garden of Myeongil Neighborhood Park at 4:00 p.m. on July 24. It is an event where all the city farmers and residents gather together to pray for having a good harvest in 2018 and pray for the peace of the family and neighbors. Various programs are available for families to enjoy a lot, such as jubul nori(It is a custom intended to reduce insect damages by carrying torches in the fields and burning weeds and grass on the fields.), traditional Korean rice ball, burum gangjeong(as well as burum breaking which is a custom that prays "Please don't get hurt all year round" by getting up early and biting some burum such as walnuts, pine nuts, chestnuts, peanuts, and ginkgo trees nut.), and dalsip burning, the most popular pastime on the fifteenth of lunar January. Small garden concerts are ready for anyone to enjoy, including magic shows, dance performances, and many entertaining elements. Dalsip Burning, in which residents and city farmers pray for the peace and prosperity of the year by burning a bonfire that is written their 2018 wish, is the highlight of the event. Gangdong District Office President Lee Hae-sik said, "as the fifteenth of lunar January, we will be able to remember the pleasure and significance of Korean traditional seasonal customs and share warm affection between neighbors. I really hope that you residents can join the event and have a healthy and happy 2018 year."
