Subject Gangdong-gu expands childcare service

Gangdong-gu announced to expand part-time childcare in Gangdong-gu Office Nursery School and Gangdong-gu Goduck forest Nursery School starting from 2nd of March. Gangdong-gu Office Nursery School is moving from dilapidated SeongNa-dong building to Borough Office’s main building which has finished renovation and facility expansion. The plan is to support compatibility of employees’ work and child rearing, and expand child care service. Part-time childcare service is flexible since parents can use the service for the hours that they choose when they need it. In the past, Gangdong-gu had operated 3 part time childcare services. Now, the number is increased into 5 classes.
Many working parents have problems of not having right and credible place to take care of their children after they come back from the Nursery school. But with this part-time service, parents would be relaxed to freely keep their child there when they are coming home late because of their work.
The facility is operating in weekdays from 9.a.m. to 6p.m. and the maximum use is 80 hours per month. The fee for each hour is 1000\. It is only available to families who receive Child Benefit which is offered to infant older than 6 months-old and younger than 3 years-old. If one needs the service, one can make a reservation by Portal for Pregnancy and Childcare or Part-time Childcare Call Centre.
Head of Gangdong-gu said “Part-time childcare service is a necessary system which would eliminate childcare gap” and “we will try to support more of flexible childcare plans in order to set a hospitable environment for parents to raise their children.
