Subject Gangdong-gu '2017 Winter Solstice Hanmadang'

The Gangdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Haesik) will hold a '2017 Winter Solstice Hanmadang' event on the 16th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the community garden of Myungil neighborhood park community.

The '2017 Winter Solstice Hanmadang' is held to end our finishing 2017 well and greet the upcoming year 2018. It is a small county festival that everyone can enjoy, and provide a place and occasion for the city farmers and residents to have time for communication, share the year, and just enjoy.
A variety of traditional foods are going to be offered; food such as Dongji red bean soup (specialty of winter solstice), red bean latte, red bean rice cake, hot winter sweet potato baked in coal, fish cake and fish cake soup, Dongchimi(traditional Korean white kimchi with cold soup) made with native cabbage, pumpkin soup and herbal tea.

There is also going to be a booth for in-the-city beekeeping experiences which provide an opportunity to make a honey tea. It can be done together between all ages, from the elderly to children. Activities such as making red bean dolls, woodworking experience for making traditional play tools, and throwing yut and tuho is also going to take place.

Also, a small garden concert that residents participate directly, a word-from-the-garden event, breaking pumpkin game, booth for making winter solstice good luck charm, and a booth for writing a winter solstice wish is going to be held.

Particularly at the small garden concert, children's winter solstice play and dance performances are going to be held. It will be something to worth to be watched and enjoyed by all ages.

The municipality mayor Lee Haesik said, "We hope that many residents will participate in the event to enjoy the traditional culture Sethi culture and to share the warm red bean soup, and pray for the year 2018 to be merrier and happier".
