On November 4th, teenager volunteer organization, Saebit- torae held a talk concert about the tragedy of international adoption at World Gloria Center in Gangdong-gu. Saebit-torae has started campaign activities since 2008. It has handled various social issues including the history of Japanese Comfort Women and the unification of South Korea and North Korea. Also, it held a community to enable communication between mentors and mentees. This year, its theme is “the euphoria of mom and child being together.” South Korea has sent lots children to foreign countries. Even today, lots of children and mothers are in depression and experiencing the tragedy of separation. Sabit-torae purses to spread this social tragedy and to help the society where mothers and children can live together. This campaign was divided into three parts: the ceremony of Saebit-torae campaign, watching documentary, human library, talk concert, and golden bell game. Hanyoung foreign high school orchestra, HCO performed the opening concert. Then there was a time for reciting the declaration in Korea, Chinese, Spanish, German, French, English, and Japanese. Next, the documentary, “Resemblance” was aired. It showed No-myung ja and her son who were the victims of international adoption. Soprano Hana Crisp sang “Someone like you” and two other songs to console them. Then, pastor Do-hyun Kim and professor Sang-mi Park led the human library and talk concert. No-myung ja, Sung-hyuk Shin, Eun-hee Kim, and Sula Lee participated in this section. They shared their own stories that made the audience burst into tears. Lastly, middle and high school students in Gangdong-Gu participated in the golden bell game. |
