The year is drawing close to its end. Just like the snow marking the winter, The cold but somewhat comforting atmosphere is present everywhere. For those of us who cannot imagine the year ending, The Christmas trees twinkles in every street To tell us that the year is ending. Gangdong-gu, from 2012, is gifting every citizen who are passing the fountain plaza A very special and unique tree. It is not just a fancy artwork, it has a special meaning. Let me introduce you to some trees that received special attention from people. Let’s go back to the year 2013. The Entree This tree, like its name, lets people tour its insides, and is one of its kind. The whole tree is made of reused materials, and the lighting was also reused from the lighting form the fountain. Inside the tree are some tables, and a postbox. If the citizens put in posts in the postbox, it will be delivered a year later. Now, lets go to the year 2015. Junk Tree Seen from distance, it doesn’t seem different from normal Christmas trees. If you approach it, you can see that the ornaments have a very peculiar shape. The Junk Tree was made to give the message that everything can be reused if seen in the proper perspective. 588 plastic boxes and old furniture, toys, and bicycles are what it took to make the tree. There were ornaments use in its original form, But there were some things that you can’t guess where its from. The last three blocks of the tree below were not filled so that Citizens can finish it with their own hopes and wishes. The tree showed us that even junks could be made into very special things through up-cycling. The next stop is the year 2016. Mirror Tree When its winter, we look back at the past. We think about how much we achieved in the year, And we regret, and we make new goals for the new year. The mirror tree has a similar message. Let’s look back on ourselves through the reflection in the 1028 golden mirrors. On the mirrors are words like community, trust, care. We can remember what is truly meaningful in our lives.
