Subject 2017 Gangdong-gu ‘Gender Equality Week’ Ceremony

Last 4th of July, at the Gangdong-gu community center auditorium 2017 ‘Gender Equality Week’ Ceremony was held. Lee Hae-sik head officer of Gangdong-gu said, “Please participate in many programs for egalitarian society in which we participate and grow up together. I will work hard to make happy Gangdong where we respect each other and the two genders are equal.” After that, Choi Young-ae Gangdong-gu Woman’s Association president had a congratulatory address.
‘Gender Equality Week’ is a period to embody gender equality ideology through compatibility of work and housekeeping in every field of politics, economy, society, and culture with women’s harmonious development. It is 1st of July to 7th of July every year.
This year, Gangdong-gu managed booths of various themes, invited celebrity for special lecture, and held exhibition that all the citizens can come to make them think about the meaning of gender equality.
At this ceremony, Gangdong-gu Female Chorus performed prior-ceremony performance, and then award ceremony for people who played important roles for gender equality was followed. After that, artist Shin Mi-ri had a sand art performance with the title ‘Gender equal Gangdong that we participate and grow up together’.
After the performance, there was a special lecture of a psychiatrist Jung Hyae-shin with the topic ‘You are enough’. Also, ‘Gender Equality Week’ exhibition was held from 1p.m. to 5p.m. at the 1st and 3rd floor of community center.
Above these, there were many programs like ‘HeforShe’ campaign asking males’ support for gender equality, introducing ‘Woman-friendly city Gangdong!’, taking image photos.
Anybody could participate in this ‘Gender Equal Week’ ceremony and all of these programs.
