Subject Christmas message from Gangdong

2017 is just around the corner.
As if the snow falling from the sky was telling the world that winter has come, the cold yet mild year-end
climate has dropped across the city.
For us who are not yet impressed with the end of the year, Christmas trees twinkle in every direction.
It is a reminder that this year is not far off.
Since 2012, Gangdong-gu has been giving a Christmas tree as a gift to people who pass by the fountain
square in front of the city hall.
Over the magnificent and gorgeous sculptures, Gangdong-gu has presented a special tree with a special meaning.
Among them, let me introduce you to some of the trees that have received special attention.
Let's go back to two years from now.

2013, The entree
As the name of this tree tells us, this tree has been organized to allow tourists to enter it.
All materials used for this tree are recycled.
Even the lighting that shone on the tree utilized the fountain lights that were on the floor.
Inside the tree, there were empty LPG gas bottles, waste bars, ski sets, restaurant wooden tailboards,
tables, etc.
And here, the residents can write letters to anyone they want to leave a message with, and put it in a
mailbox.
There was also a romantic event where letters were delivered a year later!

2015, Junk Tree

From a distance, it looks nothing but a simple Christmas tree.
But if you look closer, the ornaments that decorate the trees look pretty interesting.
Junk Tree, which was installed in 2015, contains one message: Let's face the old materials in a different
light.
It's made of 588 player-boxes and everyday waste ripped out of several parts of the city.
Items like household appliances, toys, kitchenware, bicycles had been recycled and used as decorations for the tree.
Some of them remain as their original forms but also there are things that are not known about where they were used, so many people found it interesting to figure out the primary uses of these ornaments.
This tree symbolizes the harmony of eco-friendly trees and junks that cause environmental pollution.
It's also reminded us that the waste which was once thought to be useless can be valuable again through the process called up-cycling.

Guys, you've had enough of rushing to run.
You did a great job this year.
I'd like to give a pat on the back because we've done our best in our respective positions.
With the spirit of Christmas spirit poised, we should prepare to welcome the new year again.
