Subject Gangdong-gu protects health and safety of elderly people with IoT technology

Gangdong-gu(Mayor Lee Yong-sik) announced that they planned to install 'Emergency Safety Alert', which is equipped wiht loT(Object Internet) sensor on 75 families living alone in the city since Nowmber.
Currently, the number of elderly people living alone in Gangdong-gu is 11,724, which is up 4.4% from the previous year, accounting for about 21% of the total elderly population. As a result, the city has been trying to find solutions to solve various social problems such as loneliness, healthy, and safety for the elderly.
This project, which is being promoted to proteect the health and safety of the elderly, is selected as a 'Demonstration of Health and Safety Management Solution(loT)' by Seoul, and is based on the secured budget. It will be operated through cooperation with a life support officer who is working in Municipal Gangdong Elderly General Welfare Center.
In this project, we set up 'Emergeny Safety Alert' with loT sensor in the home of the selected single elderly who was selected by the welfare center, and periodically monitor the data transmitted from the device by matching 1:1 with the life support officer. If the movement is not detected for a long time, the life support officer will check the status of the elderly immediately so that he or she can respond to the crisis situation.
Gangdong-gu expects this project to become a new social safety nets to cope with the crisis of the elderly and to prevent loneliness. Also, Gangdong-gu plans to review the appropriateness and effectiveness of the project and gradually expand the target population.
