Gangdong-gu invested a total of 100 million won for the safe schooling of children in the cheonhoyekgil and seongnaelo3gil around the Sungnae elementary school and has made 'School Zone Safe Walking Specialized Street'. The distance is carried out time limited vehicle traffic restriction from 8 am to 9 am and Gangdong-gu introduced a color image to induce the slowness of the car by newly adopting the walking-friendly packaging technique which applied the design pattern to the roads of 500m around the area. Gangdong-gu official explained, "there is always a danger of accident because students usually go a lot and narrow roads are not clearly distinguished from sidewalks and roadways. it started construction in May, and it will take six months to finish." In addition, Gangdong-gu arranged various design sculptures with images and explanations of the seasonal blooming flowers throughout the school fence after discussing with the Sungnae elementary school and transformed the streets into friendly and cozy streets. The project is expected to help prevent pedestrian safety accidents involving the Sungnae elementary school students in the city. An official said, "Having a social system to protect children is more important than anything else." and "We will continue to find places where improvement of the walking environment is necessary in the future, and we will expand safety nets for people with disabilities." Meanwhile, the Gangdong-gu office is carrying out various projects to create a safe walking environment for children including 'Child Protection Area Improvement Project' 'Child Protection Zone Solar LED Sign Replacement and CCTV Installation Project' 'Yellow Carpet Installation Project'' |
