‘2017 Love Korea Campaign: Love Baby, Love Korea - The world where the baby and mother are happy’ By Sae-bit toree, a club of Hanyoung Foreign Language High School 4th of November, at World Gloria Center in Myeong-il dong, 10th Annual Youth Festival ‘Love Korea Campaign: Love Baby, Love Korea - The world where the baby and mother are happy’ was held by ‘Sae-bit toree’ and a ‘Root House’ for overseas adoption, ‘Daegu Single Mothers’ Family Association’ together. Opening was a performance by HCO, Hanyoung Foreign Language High School Chamber Orchestra. After that, Part 1, 2, and 3 was followed in order. Part 1 was the celebration ceremony for this campaign. In that ceremony, Heo Gun-Sung Hanyoung Foreign Language High School English teacher, who is the representative of ‘Sae-bit toree’ introduced Gangdong-gu guests, Choi Young-Ae president of ‘Sae-bit toree’ gave address of welcome, and then Gangdong-gu director Lee Hae-sik gave congratulatory address lastly. After then, flag bearers went in and Hanyoung Foreign Language High School and Bae-Jae High School students who participated recited the declaration promising ‘The world where the baby and mother are happy.’ The following is the script of the declaration. ** For the last 65 years and so far South Korea has been promoting ‘International, intercountry Adoption.’ We should be embarrassed by the fact that the Koreans keep asking overseas countries’ citizens for help to raise our abandoned babies and children. Mothers, Fathers and children who are living apart are still living in the pain of separation and loss. Now we must stop ‘International Adoption.’ And we will do that! We will help all children, who are born on this land, with sweat and tears to make them live under their loved ones. ** In Part 2, a documentary about adopted child and single mother was shown. After that, a talk concert was followed and Hanyoung High School students gave a celebration performance. The documentary was a story of people who were directly involved in this event. An adopted child Adam Chrapser, a single mother who had sent her son to America, the chief of ‘Daegu Single Mothers’ Family Association’, and a mother who adopted three children participated in the talk show. Kim Do-Hyun minister who talked together works for the rights and interests of overseas adoptees and also works for revising laws about adoption, and single mothers’ rights, including ‘Single Mother’s Day’. Part 3 was the ‘Love Korea - The world where the baby and mother are happy’ Golden bell event. Numerous students from many kinds of schools challenged to ring golden bell. This event helped students to raise awareness about adopted children and single mothers. |
