Subject Lives and dreams of our neighbors go onstage

The stories of our neighbors who have discovered their new selves in their daily lives unfold on stage.

On the 23rd, 'Dreams, Stage, and Us' will be performed by local residents at the Gangdong Art Center Theater.

This concert is significant in that local residents collaborated with professional actors, dancers, and other artists.

In May, 70 people participated in the production of three shows: a theater experience program "Drama 2017," a contemporary dance program for housewives "Dancing Mothers," and a youth musical program called "Village Culture Creative School."

The performance is divided into two parts, and consists of eight works composed of theater, contemporary dance, and musical genres.

The first part starts at 4pm on 23 November, with a creative drama titled 'Do you want to die? Really?' which tells a story of people struggling to escape hell after regularly saying "I want to die" and committing suicide. Additionally, Korean adaptations of three short skits 'Lunchtime,' 'Wedding Anniversary,' and 'Edge of the Canyon' are scheduled for performance.

The second part starts at 8pm on the same day, with another creative drama titled 'Find Me,' which shows the process of finding oneself. It will be followed by a musical 'Dreaming Tomorrow' and a dance that expresses the nostalgia for mothers, Part two will be concluded by a dance titled 'This Is My Life...??!!!,' which gesturizes a woman's daily life.

Since 2013, Gangdong Art Center has been running community art programs to allow local residents to enjoy an enriched daily life by experiencing art as performers instead of as the audience.

This year, a 'village culture creativity school' was created to allow young people to experience musicals. As a result, people of various ages participated and created a venue for communication.

Gangdong-gu's alderman said, "This performance [wants] the local residents to emit artistic energy, communicate with each other, and contribute to making a happy community through culture and art."
