Subject The Café for the Severely Disabled Will Open in Gangdong-gu Office for a First Time in Seoul City

Mr. Lee Hae-sik, a head of the Gangdong-gu Office announced that the ‘I got everything (the 4th Happieness Store)' where the disabled workers have been employed will be opened in the gallery of second Gangdong-gu office building that was remodeled into an eco-friendly energy-saving building on Nov 14. The café was sponsored by Korea Disabled People's Development Institute (KODDI) and residents participatory budgeting in Gangdong-gu and Autism Society of Korea will run this café. Especially, the café location used to be a jail of Gangdong Police Station but turned into new place with gallery so that residents can exhibit their works and enjoy café and self-service eco-friendly local food store while having conversation in groups. The café, ‘I got everything’ will open their business in such local community space and will provide place to relax and fresh gourmet coffee at reasonable price.
The business hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 4 disabled baristas who completed the barista specialist course, safety management and service course in the vocational school for the disabled in Gangdong-gu the disabled will brew and serve aromatic and tasty coffee. These disabled baristas will manage this café by themselves and have opportunity to make the best use of their skills, communicate with residents and feel a sense of belonging as a member of local community. Also, there’s a place next to the café to exhibit and sell products made by the severely handicapped workers in 12 vocational rehabilitation facilities for the severely handicapped people run by Gangdong-gu.
Mr. Lee Hae-sik, a head of the Gangdong-gu Office said, “I believe it will improve awareness of the disabled since the disabled baristas are working in the café in Gangdong-gu Office. We will pay attention to create more jobs for such disabled people in future.”
