Subject Healthy Apartments, We Build Our Own Home

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee HaeSik) has signed a business agreement with Olympic Park Hanyang Apartment to promote health through voluntary participation of residents living in apartment complexes and is leading the way in a campaign to make a healthy apartment.

Gangdong-gu, as the Chairman of Healthy Cities Council of Korea, has tried to incorporate common goals of 'Health in All Policies' into urban policies in general.

The 'Healthy Apartment' project is an integrated health promotion project that supports various health programs at public health centers so that the residents can practice their own healthy lifestyle reflecting their health needs.

Olympic Park Hanyang Apartment conducted a health demand survey on apartment residents in August. Based on the results of the questionnaire survey of 185 households, residents walk together on Thursdays and have family playgrounds such as giant Jenga, volleyball, and rope jumping, which the whole family can enjoy on weekends.

On Oct. 26th, 'Laughter Therapy Lecture' was held to get a great response from the residents.

The public health center actively supports the health behavior improvement program and the health lecture so that the residents worry about the health problem of the living place and can use the local resources to solve the health problem.

Health leaders are also being trained for residents to ensure smooth communication within the apartment and active participation of residents. Health leaders are the mainstay of the residents' organization, and they find various ideas for creating a healthy living environment.

The district official said, "This project will give residents the opportunity to pay more attention to their health problems and to create a healthy community." "The district will continue to explore apartments that will participate in 'building healthy apartments'. We will actively support the voluntary movement of residents to spread to the local community and create a sustainable health community. "
