Subject | Gangdong-gu operates one-person communication window... Establishment of Support Ordinance | ||
Gangdong-gu operates a one-person communication window for three months from October to December in order to meet the social demand of an increasing number of one-person households. Since 2000, our society has experienced rapid social, economic, and cultural changes, and the best thing which shows these changes is the increase in the number of one - people households. The number of single-person households in Korea was 27.2% in 2015, the 22nd of the 32 OECD countries. but by 2035 it will increase to 34.6%, followed by Japan (37.2%). However, the reality is that the social support system such as housing, social security and tax system is designed mainly for multi - family households. Also, the poverty rate of single- person is 50.5%, which is much higher than the average poverty rate of 16%, so it is urgent to prepare preventive measures before it becomes a social problem. Gangdong-gu has been operating 'one-person household communication window' for three months from last October 10 to solve the problem of this one-person household. last June, Gangdong-gu conducted a visiting survey for the first time in the country to solve the single-person household problem. We have also sought policy alternatives for single-person households with residents, such as opening a 100-person forum for inviting single-person households, and an on-the-spot debate for experts. This communication window was prepared reflecting the suggestions of single- person households through surveys and debates. Two coordinators selected from among single-person households will serve as a platform for connecting single-person households. Coordinators of this communication window will visit the site directly and communicate variously, so that one person can have a sense of belonging as a local community member and the communication window will provide administrative support for single- person household to be able to self-stand in the area. In addition, Gangdong-gu plans to enact an ordinance for supporting single-person households by reviewing the status of single-person households, etc. Mayor Lee haesik said "I think that the new role of the municipality will be needed as the number of single-person households increases, and I think that the communication window for single-person households will be the starting point of such a role." If you want to consult with one-person household communication window, you can apply for it at the Gangdong-gu Office Welfare Policy Division (02-3425-5646,5647,5648). |
