Gangdong-gu is famous for the welfare for disabled. There are so many welfare facilities for people with disabilities and Programs for them that is one of the salubrious city in Seoul for disabilities. Also we can find any kind of convenience facilities for disabled people around us. That’s why many disabilities prefer to live in Gangdong. On this Oct. 21, Gangdong-gu held 'Family Healing Camp for the Disabled' in Pocheon, Gyeonggi. In this camp, 14 families with disabilities were participated and walked along the way around Sanjeong Lake and herbland and were provided opportunities for harmony, sympathy and healing among the family members. In order to support disabled families who have difficulty in raising their children more than non-disabled families, the city has been operating the 'Family Healing Family for the Disabled' project with the Seoul Welfare Center for the Disabled since 2014. The family healing business of the disabled is operated by healing classroom and healing camp. The healing classroom consists of parent education for parents who are raising children with disabilities, family psychological movement for stress relief and strengthening of family function, and snoezelen for children with disabilities. The Healing Camp provides a time for families with disabilities to live together in nature and to raise their understanding and familiarity with family members and form a consensus. All of us hope that the disabled family's healing project will provide an opportunity for families with disabilities to better understand their families and to improve their awareness of families with disabilities in the community. Still, Gangdong-gu continue to plan and promote the family support project reflecting the welfare needs of families with disabilities. |
