Subject 'Echoschool' in Gangdong'Gu

Gangdong-Gu, whose head officer is now Lee Haeshick, has just completed the echoschool project- with a lot of expectation of the citizens of the Gu. So now there are plenty of green areas in empty spaces of elementary school, mid school and highschool nearby.

What is the echoschool project? It is a project that makes green areas in spare spaces in the school, which apply to small forest or natural educational site, so that it can stand as a ecofriendly education site.

Schools which joined this project this time are seven, including Myoeung il elementary school, Gang il elementary school, Gang il midschool, convention highschool. They had planted various types of plants like apricot trees, corniness, gaura and lilyturf flowers in 3,656㎡ amounts of the spare space in school. They also installed direction boards, benches and chairs for everyone in Gangdong-Gu.

Last Fabruary, the Gu organized a echoschool commission for each school, and they has been creating customized green areas. And they do make an effort to reflect the oppinion of various people- teachers, students and parents. The construction was for 5 month, June to October, and Gangdong-Gu invested about a billion won in this project.

Gangdong-Gu expects students to recognize the importance and value of nature and to have interests in environments.

"We made this green area to make students be healed both bodily and mentaly, learning the nature with flowers and trees."-said the officer of the Gu. "We will give students more ecofriendly schools by keeping pushing forward this project consistently."
