On October 11th, the '22nd Gangdong Seonsa Cultural Festival' was held at the Amsadong ruins in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. Lee Haesik, the leader of Gangdong-gu, has visited the site to check the progress ahead of the festival, which will be held for three days starting from October 13, and showed pride in the festival. At this meeting, 25 departments and chiefs attended in addition to the leader and meticulously looked again to see if there was any missing part. Lee said, "Our festival is more meaningful in terms of direct participation by residents."

Gangdong-gu holds the Gangdong-Seonsa culture festival on the 13th ~ 15th in Amasadong ruins, which has the largest collection of the Neolithic era and has high historical value. The 22nd anniversary of the Gangdong Seonsa Culture Festival is the representative festival that hundreds of thousands of visitors visit each year. In the past year alone, about 400,000 people have visited the city. This is the only festival in Seoul famous for its distinctive history and identity.

An official of Gangdong-gu said, "As the winner of the Pinnacle Award from the World Festivals Association for four consecutive years from 2014 to the present year, this festival has been recognized worldwide for its originality and excellence."

This year 's Gangdong Seonsa Culture Festival has a lot more to see and enjoy than last year. The 'ShinSeokgi Eating Performance', an experience program to make and eat acorn porridge that prehistoric people used to eat, tightrope performance "Dream of the Clown" that professional acrobats perform in the air and so on are additionally added. 9 countries’ ambassadors of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea including Belgium, Romania are invited to announce the festival for the first time this year.

Lee said, "The Gangdong Festival is a meaningful one that all the residents become one and make together. I wish everyone would have much interest and participation in this festival to revive the identity and cooperation of Gangdong-gu."
