Subject Gangdong-Gu holding an eco-friendly energy tour

Gang-dong Gu is holding an eco-friendly energy tour for elementary school students five times from October 12th to 26th. This is a great chance for students to learn and experience environment friendly energy.
The first course of this tour is at ‘Go Deokcheon Energy Maru’, an educational and experiential place for renewable energy. Here, students learn about how renewable energy such as solar power, wind power, bio energy are made and experience the cycle of energy themselves. They also have a chance to think about the problems of energy in the future.
The second course is at hydrogen fuel cells power plant, ‘Go Deok Green Energy Power Plant’. First, hydrogen fuel cell is an eco-friendly energy source that produces electricity without any emission of pollutant. It produces electricity by electrochemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen. The Go Deok Green Energy Power Plant produces electricity for forty five thousand families and produces heat energy for nine thousand families a day. This power plant is a high voltage power service plant that is restricted to the public on normal conditions, but it is available for this tour.
The third course of this tour is at the largest scale of solar power plant which utilizes the site of Ama Arisu Purification Center, ‘Amsa Solar Power Plant’. Here, they produce energy for one thousand eight hundred fifty families a day at the scale of 76800㎡, about the size of ten soccer fields. This site is a good example of large multipurpose public site because below the solar power plant, there is a facility that produces Arisu Water.
Finally, the fourth course is at ‘Sipjasung Energy Self-Reliance Town’ which was built on August 2012 and is a good model of energy self-reliance town. This town is consisted of solar power houses and holds a record at 45% for energy independent rate. Here, students can learn how to ways to save energy everyday such as marking the electricity usage by bar graph.
