From October 13 to 15, ' The 22nd Gangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival ' will be held at the Archaeological Site of Amsa-dong, Gangdonggu(Head officer Haesik Lee), Seoul.

Seoul Amsa remains(Historical site number 267) are the biggest dwelling site of the Neolithic Age in which traces of the early times of Neolithic Period of Korean Peninsula is remained intact, which led to an important and artistic ‘빗살무늬토기(comb-pattern pottery)’ heritage.

Since 1996, Gangdonggu has been hosting ' Gangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival ' to raise awareness about the historical value and importance of the historical sites and to form social consensus on the UNESCO heritage registration.

‘Gangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival’, which celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year, is the only prehistoric theme festival in Seoul, with its unique history and identity. The theme of this year is ' Person ‘, and the concept is ‘Tolerate a person’.

Like 'Gang Dong-person' who lived together in harmony with each other in the Neolithic Age, the most peaceful era in human history, it means to build and take care of a warm community.

You can also meet the famous street parade of Gangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival. The street parade runs approximately 1.8 km from Cheonho Park to Archaeological Sites of Amsa-dong, Seoul. Pieces of large sculptures like mammoth, dinosaurs, buffaloes, and 300 people representing the past, present, and future will offer a unique performance to nowhere else

And then the brilliant final finale of Gangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival will be beautifully embroidered.

Gangdong-gu Head officer Haesik Lee said, “Gangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival is a meaningful festival making together in Amsa-historic sites, where the academic values are increasing globally. I ask for a lot of attention and participation in this festival to promote the meaning of cultural heritage and to revive the spirit of the community.”
