The purpose of Kangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival is to let all the people know the value of Seoul Amsadong historic site (national historic site #267) which is the largest village unit among the historic sites of neolithic era in our country. Since 1996, Kangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival has been held in the fall every year, and the upcoming 22th festival will be opened during October 14 to 15, 2017. Kangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival has been regarded as the Edu-tainement Festival, learning and enjoying the culture of Neolithic era through education, experience, and playing. Also the resident in Kangdong-Gu has prepared the various programs and a large variety of attractions for the festival. Especially, the representative spectacle program, the street parade “Primitive Grand Exploration” in which 1500 people attended has been known as one of the largest street parades in the festival of the world. Furthermore the famous “Prehistoric flash mob” and “Prehistoric family dance party” are trying to be entered by the Guinness Book of Records. Thus Kangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival has been not only evaluated by one of the best festival in Seoul, but also received 2014 Pinnacle Award which is called “Olympic of World Festival” as a prestigious event, selecting the outstanding festivals of the world. Kangdong Prehistoric Cultural Festival has played a variously pivot role in promoting the value of prehistoric culture, and simultaneously the resident of Kangdong-Gu make every efforts for Amsadong historic site to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage property. |
