Subject Gangdong-gu to Hold 15th International Conference on Amsa-dong Historical Sites

Gangdong-gu will be holding '2017 International Conference on Remains' at 'Studio #1, Gangdong Art Center in Seoul' on 15th. Following the last year, this conference will be hosted by Gangdong-gu Office, Korean Neolithic Society Academy, and East Archaeological Research Corporation jointly planned. Various cultures of comb-shaped pottery on the theme of "Decorative pattern and regional change of Asian comb-patterned pottery." will be discussed. 'Remains of Amsa-dong, Seoul' have been settled by human beings since the Neolithic period of the Korean peninsula in earnest agrarian society, and they are regarded as important relics leading to the typical comb-shaped pottery culture. In particular, last year and this year's academic excavation investigation, excavations were unearthed in the Neolithic era, along with jade jewelry, obsidian, and other artifacts.
In this international conference, Professor Kyung Won Jung and The director of the National Museum of Korea, Ki Dong Bae, will discuss the necessity and methodological discussion of Korean prehistoric human culture in cognition and rediscovery of design values in archeology. In the two sections that follow the keynote speech, there will be a presentation on the theme of comb-patterned pottery culture in Northeast Asia and Korea. In the first section on the theme of "Diversity of the Comb-patterned pottery Culture of Northeast Asia", Soichi Tanaka, a researcher of the Board of Education of Iki City in Japan, Heo Bungbi, a researcher of the Zhenjiang City Museum in China and Olga Moreba, a researcher of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Russia will publish the results of their research works. In the second section on the theme of 'Korea' s comb-patterned pottery culture, they will present the theme of the pattern and the transition of the comb - patterned pottery of Korean Neolithic scholars in Korea. On the 16th which is the second day of the international conference, there will be a separate event for foreign guests and presenters to explore the remains of Amasadong and the National Museum of Korea.
