Gangdong-gu (Head Chief Lee Hae-Shik) is having 'Residential area lighting environment improvement business' by replacing old sodium security lights in the residential areas of Cheon-ho and Meung-il Dong to eco-friendly LED security lights. The sodium security lights that were installed before has been pointed out that the light spreads every way that it is hard to identify objects so it is a waste of energy and the crime prevention is weak. So Gangdong-gu decided to replace 276 security lights in the Cheon-ho and Meung-il residential area to Cut-off LED lights by spending 170 million won of business expenses. The Cut-off LED lights that is replaced not only has a decreased power consumption to almost half but also the average illuminance of the alley will increase more than 15 lux than the sodium light before. Also, it can solve inconvenience of the citizens which was that the lights were concentrated in the road that there were sleeping disorders and it was dazzling. The construction of this residential area lighting environment improvement will be done by the end of November. A person working inside the gu said "The LED security lights is getting good responses from citizens because of light pollution relieve, energy saving, improvment of city appearances. He also added, "We will continue on these residential area lighting environment improvement business to make a street where every citizen can be relieved to walk even at night." Gangdong-gu has replaced 346 sodium security lights in 2015, and 1024 in 2016 to LED security lights. |
