Subject Developing Moving Classes in Gangdong-gu

Gangdong-gu (the head officer of Gangdong-gu, Lee Hae Sik) has held at the Gangdong-gu office meeting room on Wednesday, 3 pm.

It is a place to share the situation of “Child obesity prevention project" and "Moving classes" that are currently piloted in Gangdong elementary school, Godok elementary school and Myogok elementary school. Kim Jin man, the deputy head officer of Gangdong- gu, head of a health center, director of welfare education and training, three pilot schools, the Education Office, and members of the Committee on the Prevention of Childhood Obesity has participated.

Recently, teachers from pilot schools, Professor Cho Uk-sang, professor at Korea National Sport University, and Moon Eun-sook, the senior researcher have visited schools in Finland to share the program and operation system for prevention of childhood obesity with local teachers.

Based on Seinäjoen yhteiskoulu middle school, Toukolanpuisto elementary school, Törnävä elementary school’s case of preventing childhood obesity, teachers, experts and public health centers will develop a lesson plan for all teachers so that they can be applied to classes.
The 'Moving Classroom, Healthy School' model has been piloted at three elementary schools and six regional children's centers since May, and the case of Finland Seinayokishi, approved by WHO, is applied and supplemented according to the state of Korea.

Moving classrooms were equipped with eco-friendly materials such as 'Standing desk', 'Jimbol', 'Posture correction cushion' to improve the class environment so that children can naturally increase physical activity and form a healthy lifestyle.

Lee Hae Sik head officer said "It is important for schools, families and communities to work together to prevent childhood obesity. A lot of opinion is needed to establish a good model for preventing child obesity in Gangdong-gu and build a healthy city."
