Gwangjin and Gangdong People meeting at ‘Gwangjin Bridge’

The 1st Gwangjin Bridge Festival held on 26th , a major local festival that includes rope-pulling

A festival will be held at ‘Gwangjin Bridge’, which links Gwangjang-dong of Gwangin-gu and Chunho-dong of Gangdong-gu, as a fraternity event between two townsfolk.
Gwangjin-gu (Head Kim Kidong) revealed that ‘The 1st Gwangjin-bridge Festival’ will be held on 26th of August on past 11th .
The festival is held based on the old folk tale of Kyunwo and Jiknyeo in which the couple met every Chilsuk Day, which comes around once in a year. The idea is to have folks of Gwanjin-gu and Gandong-gu fraternize and share good memories on the festival.
On this day from 15:00 to 21:00, there are many events held such as busking performances, rope pulling events, kite flying, and teenage performances. The famous singer Hong Jinyeong’s celebration stage is also to be held.
The highlight of this festival is the Gijishi Rope-pullling event, in which 500 people of Gwangjin and Gangdong are participating. They will pull a 50m rope that weigh more than 5t.
People who would like to participate can sign up until 20th through Gwangjin and Gandong-gu homepage, nearby community centers, and culture-sports management centers.

To prevent any accidents from happening, vehicle entrance is prohibited in Gwangjin bridge from noon to midnight on the day. Next to the main stage, monitoring headquarter is to be installed. Safety nets are installed next to the bridge rail, and volunteers are going to work as safety guards. For any possible situations, Gwangnaru rescue team is going to stand by at all times.
