Gang dong gu( head of a district office Lee Hae Shick) is getting spotlight by creating the ‘green curtain’ in the building walls such as schools and community health center. If you get to grow a biennial plant such as Morning glory, Windflower or Yeoju on the building wall or the window, the effect called ‘green curtain effect ’ occurs which is the effect that blocks the sunlight. Green curtain increases the plant’s absorptivity of the carbon dioxide and therefore purify the city’s air and decrease the amount of air pollutants in the air. Moreover it can improve the urban scenery and at the same time absorb the hot heat and lower the temperature of the building. The location that the green curtain was installed is the Gang dong gu community health center , Gang dong gu community center, Sangill media high school, Dunchon elementary school and Gokbyeon Hall for the elderly. Gang dong gu placed the dulcophyte planted flower pot in the front side of the window of the building only if it qualified a curtain condition : the building’s height should close to 10m and it should be located in a good sunlight condition. Total project cost was 3500won. Lee Hae Shick the head of a district office said “ Green curtain not only saves the energy but also gives a positive effect on protecting the privacy of the lower floors and cutting off the dusts. Now and forever we will expand the animate green territory.” Gang dong gu is pioneering to create more and more green space in the city. |
