Seoul Gangdong-gu won excellence award in ‘local government job creation’ assessment and gained 90 million financial incentive money. The Ministry of Employment and Labor made this decision by apprasing 244 local governments through out the country according to the evaluation and disclosure of the policies to increase jobs. Last year, Gangdong-gu built up systematic foundation by organizing organizations such as ‘Growth Strategy Group’ and ‘Department of Social Economic Affairs’, and establishing ‘frame work ordinance on young people’ and ‘ordinance on job creation for young people’ Utilizing local resources, Gangdong-gu pursued specialized projects such as starting business like ‘Youth Market’, ‘Youth Night Market’, ‘Angel Craft Shop’, ‘Creating jobs for disabled people’, ‘Urban agriculture business’ in order to help the young to be self-reliable. Besides this, in order to solve unemployment difficulty and activate harsh local economy by customized linkage between 100 companies and job seekers, Gangdong-gu kept working on job creation by holding ‘job fair’ and creating ‘3 business complex’. Lee-hae sik, head chief of Gangdong-gu said “This award is the result came from every employee, employer, and local resident who worked hard to create jobs” and claimed that “We will work more harder in order to create sustainable jobs, which goes with local characteristic and to help people work in decent work place.” Also, in July 31th, Gangdong-gu have won the grand prize in ‘city agriculture’ field in ‘12th 2017 Korea Environment Award’, which was the 7th award in the same field. Receiving this award, Gangdong-gu strengthened its status as ‘economical city’ by being awarded from 2011 to this year. Gangdong-gu has been working hard to convert life style toward sustainable environmental city by activating eco-friendly city agriculture. To be first in the nation, it enacted ‘regulations for activating eco-friendly city agriculture and supporting the regulation in Gangdong-gu’, and working on it until 2020 in order to realize ‘1 garden per 1 family’. |
