Subject National Geographic Special Exhibition-‘World of mystery: Unknown Exploration and Discovery’ at Gangdong Arts Centre

The Exploration and the History of the World The exhibition, "World of Mystery", which is newly exhibited after five years since the 2010 and 2012 exhibitions, shows National Geographic’s passion and history of discovery that does not stop challenging the unknown world. From the boundless Antarctica and the Arctic, to the magnificent Mount Everest, to the dark rainforests, boiling volcanoes, deep and deep waters, vast stars and planets, and the world of the molecular level, this exhibition shows works that inspire scepticism about exploration and adventure. The National Geographic Exhibition, which has set the record of the largest number of visitors in 2010, will carefully select 120 pieces of work selected from the Seoul Arts Centre in 2015, and will be exhibited at the special exhibition on the Gangdong Art Centre from June 23 The ‘National Geographic exhibit: The World of Mystery’, which is new since 2012, unveils photographs of diverse records of life exploration and adventure, ranging from the civilization of the human race to the wild, the universe and the oceans. If the existing National Geographic exhibition presented a beautiful view of nature and conveyed a message toward the public about environmental problems and the coexistence with nature, this year’s exhibition is expected to be an informative and educational exhibition that reveals the mystery of the civilization that mankind has walked on and the mystery of nature that still cannot be solved. It will also be an exhibition where you can feel the adventures and hard journey of the explorers of National Geographic who have been on tough explorations for each of the exhibited works. Hall 1: The History of National Geographic National Geographic Society is the World's Largest Non-profit Science Education Association. Since its founding in 1888, National Geographic has talked about 'Earth and everything in it' for the past 129 years. You can meet photographs full of commitment to keep it as a record and to preserve it vividly. Hall 2: Mystery of ancient civilization Exhibits works on civilization that have remained a mystery, including newly discovered remains. While you are appreciating the UNESCO World Heritage site photographs, you will be able to accumulate knowledge you do not know yet. Hall 3: Mystery of the universe We present photographs of 'outer space', which was the object of myth and admiration for thousands of years, and now has come into the realm of science. You can see photographs taken by the world's first astronauts and vivid records they have sent from outside the Earth. The stories of the space films ‘Martians’, ‘Gravity’, and ‘Interstellar’ will come to you as your future, not just remaining as a part of your imagination. Hall 4: Mystery of the Wild Why do explorers continue to explore the wild when even animals refuse to go? All kinds of exploration have roots in adventure. You will find out the areas of adventure, exploration, and research enforced by the National Geographic Society and its width and diverseness. Hall 5: Mystery of the water world In April 1912, the Titanic sank after colliding with an iceberg, killing 1,517 people. In 1985, a US-French joint group recovered thousands of artefacts after discovering shipwrecks in the sea. The Titanic, as well as the discovery of other wrecked ships, displays live sea photographs and diver records. In particular, you will be able to see pictures of the 'Sustainable Ocean Exploration' site of the marine biologist Sylvia Earle. Date: 2017-6-23 (Fri) ~ 2017-10-29 (Sun), closed on Mondays.
