Subject Preventing child abuse

Prevention of a child abuse takes the highest priority.
Gandong-gu established a protection system of child maltreatment.
Gandong-gu enforces ‘Chlld keeper system’ business, providing integral service from discovering child abuse to furnishing with an appropriate support.

Gandong-gu will be promoting a supporting business for "Child keeper system'-(in Korean, 우리아이지킴이) to prevent child abuse and children from being neglected. 'Child keeper system' is an integrated system that finds out child in blind spot, diagnoses the problem and link it to a proper service. The purpose of the system is the public's active intervention in child abuse before the accident occurs thereby preventing it in the first stage.

For the promotion of this system, organizations such as 'Seoul Gandong Songpa district office of education support', 'Seoul metropolitan police agency' etc. have been discussing the roles and process of the system since last year. As a result. Gandong-gu has established a child protection system including public wwelfare wage/service and emergency support system by carrying out all the possible resources.

When someone doubts a child abuse such as maladjustment, negligence, he/she should ask the agency nearby the town for a counseling or door-to-door survey. After receiving the request, the agency would carry out accessment and diagnosis including counseling for the victims and then go through a discussion to provide 'Child keeper system'. If a deeper counseling is required according to the diagnosis, the agency would connect the client to a professional counselor, and if a financial support is needed, living and medical expenses, scholarship will be provided.'Child keeper system' targets for children under 18.
