Ceremony of Gender Equality Kangdong-gu office has held the third ceremony of the gender equality on July 4th 2017 at Kangdong Gumin Hall. About 200 Kangdong citizens and the parent’s management committee of World-Light Friends (Sae-bit toree) at Hanyoung Foreing High School attended this ceremony. After the beautiful performance of Kangdong –gu Women Chorus, the mayor of Kangdong-gu, Lee Hae-Sik fervently addressed “a sustainable happy city for all, the both gender”, the vision of Kangdong-gu. As a female-friendly city, Kangdong-gu aims to be a fair city for both gender, providing equal opportunity of service, resources, and convenience. Also, sand artist Shin, Miree wonderfully performed several titled sand art plays, especially the titled “Equal City for both gender, Kangdong, joining and growing together” touched all of audiences. Dr. Chung, Hae-Shin, psychiatrist who has been a residence counselor for the bereaved family of Sewol ferry, has given special lecture “You are enough for yourself”. She explained how important and serious issue is the equal rights for both gender in this generation. A young generation feels this issue more seriously and critically rather than the old generation, thus the voice about the gender equality will be more highly raised. She has also emphasized the dignity as a human being, without discriminating between both genders. |
