Gangdong-gu installs PM parking areas

- Four additional parking areas, including Exit 2 of Myeongil Station, after a pilot operation by Exit 4 of Godeok Station last August

 Gangdong-gu (Head: Lee Soo-hee) announced the installation of parking areas for personal mobility (PM) for pedestrian safety against the neglectful and disorderly parking.

 Since August, Gangdong-gu has installed and operated a parking area for PM on a trial basis at Exit 4 of Godeok Station. PM is getting popular as a mode of personal transportation, but PM users' indiscriminate parking has become a public nuisance. After analyzing to improve such problems, Gangdong-gu expanded the parking area to five more locations.

 The parking areas are located near subway stations and bus stops where PM is frequently used. However, the parking areas were not installed in areas that could threaten the safety of pedestrians or cause civil complaints from nearby shops, by considering the surrounding congestion and facility installation.

 As of Dec. 19, the newly installed parking areas are by Exit 2 of Myeongil Station, near the Gangdong Public Garage bus stop, near the Gangil Riverpark 3 Apt bus stop, and in front of Sunsa High School.

 Yoon Hee-eun, Director of the Transportation Administration Division, said, “We were able to install PM parking areas owing to the revision of the Road Traffic Act. PM users are advised to park at the dedicated parking areas.”
