Gangdong-gu Office (Mayor Lee Jung-hun) announce that it will be reopening the AMSA Community Regeneration Sangsangnaru "Rae," which was closed in response to the temporary restrictions on multi-use facilities due to the spread of COVID-19.

AMSA Community Regeneration Sangsangnaru "Rae" (hereafter referred to as Sangsangnaru "Rae") is a public facility that was created as part of the Amsa-dong Community Regeneration Project. The facility consists of a multi-purpose cultural space, cafe, exhibition space, neighborhood childcare center, crafting space, shared kitchen, and small meeting rooms. Any resident can rent these spaces through the website of Sangsangnaru "Rae."

Sangsangnaru "Rae" is operated together by the AMSA Community Regeneration Corporation established by the local residents who grew through the Community Regeneration Project. The AMSA Community Regeneration Corporation is a sustainable private company and was selected as the Community Regeneration Corporation (CRC) by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. It has been acting as the vitamin of Amsa-dong that connects the public and the private spheres as well as individuals and organizations.

With its reopening, the center created new classes for singing, Korean dance, line dance, disco janggu, cooking for children, watercolor painting, writing, and more. Since April, Sangsangnaru "Rae" Flea Market organized by the festival planning team called "Amhaengeosa" (meaning, "People who gather for the happiness of Amsa-dong") has been held. Amhaengeosa is comprised of local residents who gather on the last Saturday of each month.

In addition, the cafe located on the ground floor of Sangsangnaru "Rae" is home to "Shop" where the handicraft works made by local residents are exhibited and "Gallery" where artworks by local artists are displayed and sold. The center is also preparing for various public programs and projects in which the local residents can participate such as a shared library and neighborhood painted pots (paint sharing). The center always welcomes participants, and any profits made will be returned to the local community.

Lee Jung-hun, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “We hope the reopening of AMSA Community Regeneration Sangsangnaru "Rae" will help the local residents overcome their COVID-19 blues. We will take all measures to ensure the safety of residents, performing regular disinfections of the spaces and enforcing mask-wearing and temperature checks in the facility.”

To rent a space at Sangsangnaru "Rae" or apply to participate in a program, please visit the website of Sangsangnaru "Rae" (http://amsacrc.org) or call +82-2-442-0660.
