Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jung-hun) is lending a helping hand to the vulnerable groups experiencing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.

On the 21st, twenty volunteers gathered at the Gangdong-gu Seongnae Social Welfare Center to share side dishes with vulnerable groups likely to be skipping meals due to social distancing. Funding for the event was provided by the Eunpyeong Church to help overcome the COVID-19 situation.

On this day, volunteers delivered homemade side dishes to elders experiencing difficulties with mobility, children skipping meals, and crisis families. The delivery of the side dishes helped volunteers check the safety and state of low-income families in blind spots of welfare.

The Seongnae Social Welfare Center bought ingredients for the event at Seongnae Traditional Market, held an event for “Campaign for Revitalizing the Local Economy“ to help shop owners, and supported the traditional market that remained stagnant due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Seongnae Social Welfare Center also signed an MOU with the Seongnae Traditional Market to build a local welfare network to help revitalize traditional markets during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Director Lee Sang-hyun of the Seongnae Social Welfare Center commented, “We’re all going through a difficult time, but we will continue to do our best with the local community to overcome this crisis.”
