Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jung-hun) held a commencement briefing on 「Research Services for Establishment of the Smart City Gangdong Masterplan」 on the 28th at the main hall of the district office.

The services include the systematic promotion of a smart city with the integration of construction and information communications technologies as well as arrangement of a mid- and long-term proposal to discover specialized strategies suitable for Gangdong-gu.

The period for establishment was set for five years from 2021 to 2025. Prioritized tasks include ▲the establishment of a vision for the Gangdong-gu Smart City through regional analysis and strategies for advancement, ▲establishment of a plan for advancement of the trial districts, Godeok-Gangil District, Godeok Biz-valley, and the Gangdong Industrial Complex, ▲discovery of smart city projects for residential living, such as urban regeneration, ▲conclusion of plans for yearly, step-by-step promotions and strategic tasks, and ▲preparation of financing for the creation and operation of a smart city.

The research period will end this December, and the project will be conducted by Jungdo UIT, a company specializing in urban planning and engineering, and Yonsei University’s University-Industry Foundation.

The “Gangdong-gu Smart City Planning Ceremony“ was also held at the commencement briefing. The district appointed Professor Lee Jae-seung of the Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies as Head of Smart City Planning and requested the creation of a people-centered Smart City Gangdong.

Through the research service, the Head of Planning, Lee Jae-seung, will establish a smart city masterplan, discover policies, examine strategies for practicality, and introduce a smart solution for each zone appropriate to Gangdong-gu’s characteristics in addition to fulfilling his role as a general consultant for policies and projects.

Mayor Lee Jung-hun stated, “Today, we commissioned Professor Lee Jae-seung of Seoul National University as the Head of Planning for the smart city project and commenced research services for the establishment of a masterplan to initiate the creation of Smart City Gangdong. We will create a people-centered Smart City Gangdong with practical and substantial policies that are suitable for our district and can be directly experienced by our residents.”
