Gangdong-gu (headed by Lee Jung-hun) won the Grand Prize in the Seoul Transportation Demand Management Assessment, which secured it an incentive of KRW 300 million.

The Seoul Transportation Demand Management Assessment was conducted across 25 autonomous districts in the city, comprehensively evaluating them according to 13 indicators in four areas: traffic induction fees, corporate transportation demand management, intensive transportation demand management, and special measures.

Gangdong-gu earned the highest score in the area of traffic induction fees by collecting 97.2% of the amount charged this year through an active campaign to encourage the payment of the fees, and attained a seizure rate of 98.8% for securing bonds, contributing to increased tax revenues for the city.

The district designated the fourth Wednesday of every month as the Day of Public Transportation to reduce the use of passenger cars and encourage the use of public transportation. Also, instead of closing the Gu Office's empty parking lot, it opened it to the public as a space for exchange and sharing events such as flea markets and other green markets.

In addition, Gangdong-gu improved the public transportation environment by installing warm tent shelters and bus information display terminals at bus stops, adjusting the routes of shuttle buses and city buses to solve traffic inconveniences. In recognition of these various efforts to mitigate traffic congestion, Gangdong-gu earned the highest score in the assessment.
