Gangdong-gu (Mayor, Lee Jung-hun) announced the district’s operation of “The Happy Civil Service Helper" team, which is a group of volunteers offering civil service assistance, starting in March, to promote a better communication between residents and the Civil Service Office employees. “The Happy Civil Service Helper” team is composed of five retired civil servants with extensive experience in responding to and management of civil complaints, and retirees with diverse knowledge and societal experience. The team’s main tasks include providing guidance for residents on filling in request forms for various civil services, offering instruction on using automatic certificate issuance machines related to real estate registration, national taxes, family registration, education verification, etc., and supporting the preparation of oral complaints for the socially vulnerable or disabled individuals with mobility issues. “The Happy Civil Service Helpers” will work from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with one helper situated at the Civil Service Center located on the first floor of the main building of the Gangdong-gu Office every day. The team's main purpose is to reduce the burden on civil service employees during lunch time, when employees are taking their lunch break, and in the afternoon, when the amount of civil complaints increases. The team's goal is to help provide residents faster and easier services. Before starting their work, all of the Helpers have received training in civil service assistance so that they can offer practical help to enhance civil and administrative service quality for citizens. A district official from the Gangdong-gu Office said, "The Helpers, composed of retirees, are working hard and take pride in their activities to help their neighbors and to contribute to the districts‘s administration. This type of resident participation will be a driving force behind our community‘s move towards becoming a happier and stronger community."
