Gangdong-gu will host the proclamation ceremony of “Project 3 Hearts”, which contains its vision of becoming the financial and economic center of the eastern part of Seoul metropolitan area, in the front concourse of Gangdong-gu Office at 1:30 PM, September 27th.

“Project 3 Hearts” refers to the establishment of 3 corporate complexes (Advanced Business Complex, Godeok Commercial Multi-complex and Engineering Multi-complex), all of which are being pursued by Gangdong-gu.
It is an economic project that will newly draw the map of Gangdong-gu, which used to be primarily composed of residential areas, and the aforementioned 3 complexes are compared to human hearts; it means that the 3 complexes will act as hearts to refresh and vitalize the entire region and, subsequently, achieve greater growth.

This proclamation ceremony aims to promote the business complex establishment project both internally and externally and share the vision and direction of future growth with residents, proclaiming its will and desire towards a greater growth of Gangdong.

Among the three corporate complexes, the Advanced Business Complex, which was completed in 2015, houses about 40 renowned domestic and global companies and 15,000 employees working for Samsung Engineering, Korea Engineering Consultants Corporation, Sejong Investment, CESCO, NICE and many more.

Moreover, Godeok Commercial Multi-complex, regarded as the largest development project since the district office first opened, is the project of the greatest scale that Gangdong has ever witnessed and has already received letters of intent on investment from more than 60 corporations, most notably IKEA, a global furniture manufacturer.

Godeok Commercial Multi-complex plans to establish a business and R&D zone, shopping and distribution facilities, a hotel for tourists and more. Upon completion of these facilities, the complex is expected to create about 38,000 jobs and induce economic effects worth 9.5 trillion KRW, thus making an enormous impact not only throughout the region but also in neighboring areas.

If large-scale distributors that require a great number of service personnel are situated within the complex, many new jobs will be created especially for the younger generation and women who have faced career interruptions due to family obligations. This will establish a safe and stable network for employment and have positive effects with regards to the creation of new jobs for local residents.

Lastly, the Engineering Multi-complex is a national project overseen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy and is currently taking steps to deactivate the green belt in the area for establishment of an industrial complex. Once the project is completed, about 200 organizations and agencies, as well as 16,000 employees in the engineering industry will begin to work here, which will significantly contribute to the vitalization of the local economy and creation of jobs.
