Subject Gangdong-gu, Seoul to Implement a Project to Strengthen Prevention of Child Abuse

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, will launch a full-fledged child abuse prevention project.

Gangdong-gu announced on the 15th that it will select "Looking, informing, and protecting together" as this year's key slogan, ▲ Strengthening the early detection system for child abuse, improvement of awareness of child abuse, and implementing 11 projects in three areas: early detection, response, and promotion.

Gangdong-gu previously held a child welfare review committee on the 23rd of last month and decided on a plan to promote child abuse prevention in 2022.

Accordingly, Gangdong-gu will significantly strengthen the prevention system for "early detection of children in crisis."

First of all, if you consult or apply for child welfare benefits at the community center to detect suspected signs of child abuse early, it will be easier to find children in crisis that cannot be easily recognized by family raising.

The crisis child discovery project is implemented quarterly to link actively customized services for households in need of support. The child abuse unmanned reporting box "Yellow Talk," which is currently installed in nine elementary schools, will be expanded to all elementary schools in the second half of this year as well as improved to report child abuse online.

In addition, it will actively guide reports of child abuse and strengthen monitoring in cooperation with related agencies such as police stations and child protection agencies.

In addition, it will gradually improve awareness of child abuse such as through resident education, holding forums and ceremonies to mark Child Abuse Prevention Day in November this year, or publishing a collection of child abuse cases to raise awareness of ambiguous boundaries of discipline and abuse.

Mayor Lee Jung hun, said, "We still have many children who need our attention, but it is regrettable that they cannot be found," adding, "We will do our best to eradicate child abuse this year by implementing active child abuse prevention projects."
